After School Program

The After School Program is designed to support academic achievement, foster personal interests and talents, and initiate positive social experiences for all students.

Philosophy

The After School program at Irving Middle School provides students access to high-quality activities in a safe environment for all students. The Program strives to improve academic performance, foster social, emotional, and physical well-being, all while reducing the potential for risk-taking behaviors.

Program Structure & Club Sign Ups

The After School Program runs 4 days a week unless noted. Monday through Thursday, our clubs and activities will run in two activity blocks (2:25 pm to 3:25 pm and 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm).   The club schedule will vary by day and week, but the most up-to-date schedule will be posted in the “Activities” section of our school website.

Most of our clubs are open to all 7th and 8th grade students, however some are limited by grade level. If that is the case, it will be noted in the club description.  In order to sign up for a club, students must sign up using the Weekly Signup located in the After School Program folder located in the Schoology All Students Course.  Some clubs may require an additional sign up process.  If that is the case, directions for how to sign up will be noted in the club description.

Students may participate in as many clubs as they want.  We encourage them to try something new as part of the After School Program!

Registration and Cost

Registration for the After School Program is completed by parents as part of the beginning of the year paperwork. In order to participate in any after school clubs and activities (virtual or in-person), students must be registered.  Students arriving mid-year will complete the registration with their paperwork during course registration.  If you have not completed the After School Program Registration form yet, please complete it using the button below.

There is NO cost to participate in the After School program.

Behavior during the After School Program

The Fairfax County Public Schools Student Rights & Responsibilities (SR&R) continues to be in effect during the After School Program.  Students who do not comply with the SR&R may receive consequences or lose the privilege to participate in the After School Program.
